چکیده
Background and Aim: Globally, Hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection is a major health issue contributing to various diseases such as hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) liver cirrhosis. Virus replication complex interaction with host immune system response causes dynamic interplay leading HBV infection. In developing countries, plays significant role in higher rates of morbidities mortalities. The present study aimed assess the clinical, laboratory, virological characteristics patients positive surface antigen. Methodology: This cross-sectional was carried out on 182 antigen (HBsAg) department Medicine, Social Security Hospital, Multan Road Lahore from April 2021 March 2022. All HBsAg negative hepatitis C were enrolled. Patients history chronic disease, acute infection, antiviral therapy excluded. underwent CBC, function tests, clinical evaluation, abdominal ultrasonography examination, serological marker’s assessment, transmission risk factors, HBV-DNA quantitative detection. SPSS version 25 used for data analysis. Results: Out infected patients, there 162 (89%) males 20 (11%) females. overall mean age 38.6 ± 8.6 years. most prevalent complaint common findings arthralgia hepatomegaly reported incidence 32 (17.6%) 16 (8.8%) respectively. Based imaging results, normal liver, coarse splenomegaly, cirrhosis found 81.3% (n=148), 12.6% (n=23), 5.9% (n=11), 6.6% (n=12) laboratory alanine aminotransferase, aspartate reduced serum albumin, low platelet count 76.9%, 84.8%, 4.9%, 10.2% Regarding characteristics, had no differences. Conclusion: that patient’s manifestations fatigue, bleeding gums, pain fatigue. Majority tests ultrasonographic examination. Most comparisons made between positive, substantial variations characteristics. Keywords: antigen, Virological

Molecular and Clinical Characteristics of Hepatitis B Surface Antigen
HBs protein is encoded by the pre-S and S genome, and the detection of HBs antigen (HBsAg) in sera is an initial step for the diagnosis of hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection. The “a” determinant region (amino acid residues 124–147) is the main epitope for inducing a protective immune response. Mutations in the “a” determinant region, known as escape mutants, affect antigenicity and hinder attemp...
متن کاملViral Load Pattern Among Hepatitis B Surface Antigen-positive Patients: Laboratory Perspective and Implications for Therapy.
BACKGROUND Hepatitis B viral infection is an old medical problem with worldwide distribution. It is usually diagnosed using serologic methods. However, the decision as to which patient to treat or not remains challenging due to the poor sensitivity of serologic markers as prognostic or severity markers. Viral load (VL) determination using polymerase chain reaction techniques is a useful tool in...
متن کاملClinical and Virological Characteristics of Chronic Hepatitis B Patients with Coexistence of HBsAg and Anti-HBs
Coexistence of hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) and antibody against HBsAg (anti-HBs) comprises an atypical serological profile in patients with chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection. In this study, in total 94 patients with coexisting HBsAg and anti-HBs and 94 age- and sex-matched patients with positive HBsAg were characterized by quantitatively measuring HBsAg and HBV DNA, sequencing l...
متن کاملClinical utility of hepatitis B surface antigen quantitation in patients with chronic hepatitis B: a review.
This clinically relevant review focuses on recent findings concerning hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) quantitation in untreated patients and treated patients with chronic hepatitis B. Recent studies and emerging data have shown that both HBsAg and hepatitis B virus (HBV) DNA levels decline during the natural course of a chronic HBV infection; they are lowest in the inactive phase, which is ...
متن کاملClinical and Virological Characteristics of Chronic Hepatitis B Patients with Hepatic Steatosis
OBJECTIVE This study aimed to explore clinical and virological characteristics of chronic hepatitis B (CHB) patients with hepatic steatosis in order to provide a theoretical basis for the prevention and control of hepatic steatosis. METHODS A total of 360 CHB inpatients were recruited from Affiliated Dongnan Hospital of Xiamen University and divided into hepatic steatosis group and non-hepati...
